Melissa Flynn received a B.A. in business management and project management in 2015 and completed her M.Ed. in educational administration: adult and higher education at University of Sioux Falls in 2017. In addition to serving on our Board, Melissa is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, a certified DDI Leadership Training Facilitator and a volunteer community educator for the Addiction Policy Forum. She also volunteers at the Avera Addiction Care Center.

Melissa has worked for YRC Freight since 1995 and currently holds a Talent Development Program Designer position in learning and organizational development for YRC Worldwide, YRC Freight’s parent corporation.

Since becoming a volunteer with Addiction Policy Forum in 2018, Melissa has attended two National Leadership Conferences in Washington D.C., where she met with state representatives. She has shared her personal story of grief and loss with several local and national organizations. Additionally, Melissa has helped organize candlelight vigils for Overdose Awareness Day in Sioux Falls since 2019. She hopes sharing her family’s story will raise awareness, reduce stigma and provide hope and help to those in need.
